Castaway Collies Rescued

The Western Isles Stornoway branch of the Scottish Society for the Protection of Animals (SSPCA), have rescued four puppies from what must be one of their highest profile cases of irresponsible dog ownership.

The puppies were born on St. Valentine's day, on the remote Scottish island of Taransay to Fran, one of the Border Collies taken to the island by Patricia Prater, a volunteer in the BBC's much publicised Castaway programme.

The three-month-old puppies - Bruiser, Duke, Merlin and Molly - were collected from the windswept Hebridean island of Taransay by an inspector from the Scottish Society for the Protection of Animals. The puppies had to leave the island after the castaways decided they could not cope with so many dogs and voted against keeping them.

The dogs were given a free flight by British Airways and have now arrived in Glasgow where they will be housed until new owners come forward.

If you think you can provide a good home for Molly (a bitch) or Merlin, Bruiser, Duke or Ryan (all dogs), send your details to:
