The 161st Annual Royal Highland Show opens in Edinburgh today.

The show, famous for its livestock competitions, is the biggest outdoor event in the Scottish calendar, with over 50 events and exhibits, and around 150,000 visitors each year.

Todays events include judging of Shetland Ponies, Highland Ponies, Hunters In-Hand, Working Hunters & Hunter Under Saddle, Horse Logging demonstrations Show Jumping. There are also sheep dog trials, sheep shearing demonstrations, a flower show and shopping galleries.
