Castaway pups rehomed after 5 months

Puppies born on the television Castaway island of Taransay are meeting their new families for the first time.

The collies have been housed at an animal rescue centre in Dumbarton since being collected from the windswept Hebridean island by an inspector from the Scottish Society for the Protection of Animals.

As we reported at the time, this everyday case of irresponsible dog ownership was brought about when Fran, one of the Border Collies taken to the island by Patricia Prater gave birth.

It became high profile after the castaways decided they could not cope with so many dogs and voted against keeping them.

Molly has already been taken to her new owner, while Bruiser, Duke and Merlin are being introduced to their new homes throughout the country this week.
