US Pet Food Companies Launch B2B Web Sites

Two of the largest pet-food producers in the US are launching initiatives to allow their business customers to place orders via the Internet.

In early July, Nestle USA launched www.nestleEZorder.com, the first business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce Web site from a major pet food company. The site allows business customers to directly order 100 Nestle brands including the likes of Friskies over the Internet.

At the same time, Ralston Purina whose brands include Purina and Pro Plan pet foods joined up with 48 other leading consumer product companies to create a global B2B electronic marketplace called Transora.com.
