PetsMart.com, A Word In Your Ear |
PetsMart.com,
the internet outlet of the PetsMart U.S. pet store chain struck a 'Wireless
Marketing' deal with web-rewards site
GoZing.com
to sell its website products over the mobile telephone.
Wireless Marketing broadcasts text-based adverts directly to a network of opt-in consumers via cellular phone or text pager. The consumer network is made up of members who register through the GoZing website and select the categories of advertising they would like to receive. Members receive anywhere from two to five of these messages per day. Text messages appear in the mailbox of their cellular phones , (so the phone does not ring and users are not charged for airtime). Users are paid $.03, (this is currently a U.S. residents only scheme) for every message they receive. 30,000 consumers received a PetSmart.com offer of $10 in savings on a purchase of $20 or more. The offer which was available only for purchases through the website, attracted more than a four percent response. Copyright in this form 2001 Steve O'Malley (UKPets).
