Countryside Alliance Cancel 'Liberty' March

The Countryside Alliance has announced today that it is to cancel its fox-hunting 'March For Liberty and Livelihood', which was due to take place on Sunday 18th March.

The move is a direct result of the outbreak of Foot & Mouth and has been taken to prevent further spreading of the disease. The march expected to attract over 4000 coachloads of protestors.

The stated objectives of the The Countryside Alliance in organising the march were to:

  • 'defend the right of rural people to live our lives responsibly in the way we choose'
  • 'protect rural people from prejudice, particularly against all country sports including hunting with dogs'
  • 'address the real problems of the countryside that are destroying our communities, our culture and our children's future'

  • This turn of events will be seen as a massive blow to their campaign.
