Recycling Fines For Ethical Pet Food Maker
Prosecuted by the Environment Agency, the (BUAV) approved UK pet food manufacturer - Naturediet Pet Foods Ltd, has been fined more than £3,500 for recycling offences.
The company pleaded guilty to 3 offences under the Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) Regulations at Thetford Magistrates Court.
Naturediet Pet Foods was additionally ordered to pay costs of over £1200.
Naturediet operates a No Animal Testing Policy which is recognised by the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection, (BUAV). Taste testing is undertaken by voluntary members of staff and their own pets.
The range is also approved by the British Association of Holistic Nutrition and Medicine (BAHNM).
The Eastern Daily Press reports the company's defence as saying:
"The offences happened when the company was relocating from Chiddingfold in Surrey to Shipdham and had been a complete oversight."
