Alison Rogers Wins Groomer Of The Year

The cream of British grooming met in Leeds on Sunday to compete in the 2007 British Dog Grooming Championships. 34 dog groomers showed off their skills in front of hundreds of spectators at the Mypetstop venue.

Alison Rogers, of Pretty Paws Grooming Salon, Holmfirth, near Huddersfield, proved a cut above, taking home the prestigious Groomer of the Year title along with a cheque for £500.

Peter Ensell was placed second, with his wife, Bexi Ensell, both from More than Mutts, in Atherstone, Warwickshire, in third place.

Michelle Pickard, won the Newcomer of the Year title.

As well as the competition there were grooming demonstrations on a variety of different breeds and a series of seminars throughout the day.

The annual event, which is open to the public, is hosted by the British Dog Grooming Association which is part of the Pet Care Trust .

This year's competition was sponsored by Groomers Limited and Fish4Dogs.
