Dotty Complaint About RSPCA TV Ad

A spurious complaint about a television advert, for the RSPCA Home For Life pet re-homing service, has been firmly knocked back by the Advertising Standards Agency, (ASA).

Within its free Home For Life service, the RSPCA says it will do all it can to find a new home for your pet if you should die.

Someone, let's call her Dotty, complained to the ASA that the advert for the service was misleading because it did not make it clear that animals might be put down if they could not be re-homed or were found to be unsuitable for re-homing.

The time wasting Dotty was sharply sent off to the naughty step because, as the ASA sensibly points out, the statement that "the RSPCA will do all it can ..." would be clearly understood by most people to mean that whilst efforts would be made to re-home an animal wherever possible, there might be instances where animals could not be re-homed because of behavioural or health problems.

So, all kind-hearted fosterers willing to offer a poor homeless, ownerless pet, the chance of a second life can rest assured that they are not likely to be letting some half-crazed dotty monster into their homes.
