Wynnstay Buys Out Wilson's Pet Centres

The Bromsgrove based pet store chain Wilsons Pet Centres consisting of 10 pet stores across the Midlands, has been bought up by the agricultural supplies company Wynnstay Group PLC in a deal that is reported to be worth over £5.8 million.

Wynnstay has been extending its retailing activities into the area of pet care products for some time and says this latest acquisition brings with it excellent potential for expanding upon its recently launched Just for Pets business format through dedicated pet and general stores.

Wilsons' two principal directors are to remain with the business and will lead the on-going development of Wynnstay's pet products retailing activities.

Bernard Harris, Managing Director, Wynnstay said:

"I am very pleased too that the senior management team at Wilson's Pet Centres will remain with the enlarged business, leading its development, and believe that there are exciting growth opportunities ahead of us."

Last month Wynnstay acquired the goodwill and certain assets of two Wrekin Country Stores which offer a range of agricultural requisites, gardening, equine and pet products.
