Emap Launches Online Pet Industry News

Emap has announced plans to launch an online industry-wide daily news service covering the garden, pet and leisure retail markets.

The site will be headed up by news editor Mary Clarke, who has joined Emap from The Guardian. Announcing the launch she claimed the news site will be the place to come for up-to-the-minute news from the gardening and pet industries:

"We hope to provide a guide to all areas [of] the sector and a meeting place for those in the industry to discuss the market and exchange ideas and experiences."

While the news service is a spin-off from the annual Glee trade show, Emap says the editorial will go beyond the boundaries of the show to cover industry-wide issues all year round.

Last week saw the conclusion of a long running bid in which Emap's Events division was bought up in a joint venture by Guardian Media Group, (GMGplc) and the private equity firm Apax

As part of the wholesale sell-off of Emap publications, its long running (Emap Active) pet trade publication, Pet Product Marketing, (PPM) is now under the separate wing of its new publisher Bauer Publishing, (Bauer Active). The Division's MD, Steve Windsor said today that as a result of the split, the two publications - PPM and Glee's online news are now completely separate entities. It is business as usual for PPM.
