MP To Take Dog Collar Campaign To Crufts

Anne Snelgrove, the Labour MP, (South Swindon) who has tabled several Parliamentary Questions about research into possible side effects of electric shock dog collars will be attending Crufts to talk to dog owners about her campaign.

Following a meeting with The Kennel Club, (KC) the MP said:

"I believe it is inherently cruel to use electric shock pain to discourage unwanted behaviour in dogs. I am concerned that the use of pain to control animal behaviour could lead to long term behavioural changes including increased aggression towards children and other dogs."

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club spokesperson, added:

"Like us, Anne sees that electric shock collars are a cruel and unnecessary method of controlling a dog. We welcome her help in raising awareness to ban the collars in England, a decision which the Scottish Parliament and Welsh Assembly are in the process of making now."
