Scottish Dog Control Proposal Moves On
The 3 month consultation period set by Scottish Parliamentary MP Alex Neil for his draft proposed Control of Dogs (Scotland) Bill [.pdf] came to an end yesterday.
The Bill which allow Control Orders to be issued to owners of dogs that are dangerously out of control, and would involve a system of microchipping dogs and holding their owners' details on a database, is intended to address what Mr Neil has called shortcomings of the existing legislation, specifically the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.

With evidence gathered from this consultation, Mr Neil must now re-draft and lodge his final proposal before it can be introduced to Scottish Parliament.
