Pharmacist Seeks Vet For Stable Relationship

The notion that veterinary medicines dispensing pharmacies are necessarily in competition with veterinary practices when it comes to buying prescription drugs for pets is being challenged by new online veterinary pharmacy..

The recently launched pet medicines discounter Medicanimal today announced plans to partner with veterinary surgeries rather than compete with them. The arrangement, says the company, would see closer cooperation between vet and pharmacist over the treatment of pets. It would also enable veterinary practices to retain some of the revenues from what might otherwise have become lost sales of presciption medicines.

In the companion animal markets, Medicanimal dispenses to cat and dog, equine, small animal and bird owners.

Ivan Retzignac, co-founder, MedicAnimal said today:

"Our vets and nurses often refer clients back to their vets for a consult if they have any reason to believe the animal is at risk and we don't just do this for clinics partnered with us but with any clinic."
