Pet Travel Scheme Underused Says Holiday Co.

The UK holiday lettings website Holidaylettings.co.uk has reported results of a customer survey. The report indicates that just 6% of pet owning holidaymakers have arranged EU Pet Passports for their pets.

The majority of pet owners, 58% opt to leave their animals with friends or get a house sitter, while 28% of pet owning holidaymakers use kennels or catteries, says the company.

Holidaylettings points out that of the privately owned holiday homes available on its books for short term rental, one fifth allows pets. Its figures include properties in France, Spain, Italy and the UK.

Ross Elder, M.D., Holidaylettings, said:

"It tends to be property owners who have or like pets that welcome them into their holiday home, but a simple set of rules for guests such as no pets in the bedrooms and pet food or treats only to be eaten in the kitchen or outside, will ensure that guests and their pets respect your property."
